JOEYS AGM - WE NEEED YOUR HELP

We need your help!
Many of the members of the 2013 committee will not be continuing in their roles in 2014. These people have committed many years of service to your club but have girls that are progressing from junior to senior ranks of netball where they may choose to leave Joeys to play for school teams, get jobs or gain an interest in other activities or sports. It is therefore essential that we get new, fresh faces on the committee in 2014. Over the last few years our AGM attendance has been minimal, with a maximum of 5 people attending. If we get a similar turn up this year, we may not get enough nominees to continue the club. It is for this reason that the outgoing committee are appealing to you to attend the AGM, and contribute to how your club is run.
There are a number of formal positions as well as a need for people to simply help with the various tasks of running your club. They are:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Membership Registrar
  • Uniforms Coordinator
  • Fundraising Coordinator
  • Queanbeyan Netball Delegate (there are 2 positions)
  • General members
Please do not be intimidated by any of the roles. The outgoing committee members are more than happy to provide advice and if everyone pitches in, no one role is too onerous or challenging.
Don't forget the date 7.00pm  14th November at the Jerra School Library.

Umpires - Level 1 Course

Hi All,

Tina Phillips is running a Level 1 Umpires Course on evening of Thursday 1st August at 6.30pm in the QNA Clubhouse. This is an ideal opportunity to take in some interpretations of the rules of netball.

Ideally you can complete the on-line test prior to the course. This can be down loaded from the Netball NSW website -easier to pass it if you sit and do it with the rule book beside you. If you do not have a rule book these they can be bought at the clubhouse for $10 each.

You can sit the test as often as you need to!!!

Please let Tina know if you will be attending via email tinamaree73@gmail.com There is also info on the QNA website.

Come and Support our DIV 1 Seniors

This Saturday has a rare opportunity for our junior players to show some club spirit and cheer on our Div 1 Jerra Joeys team who play Sunrise at QNA at 1.30 pm. Since our Div 1  Senior team is a travelling team they don't often get the opportunity to play at home. This is a fantastic opportunity for the junior teams to come and watch and hopefully pick up a few tips and game play from the senior team. You would also be providing great support to our top team who may be your daughters school teacher, netball coach or on the Jerra Joeys committee.

So come and support your Div 1 Team who are playing Sunrise this week, which is believed to be their toughest competitor and is sure to be an exciting game. Make sure you bring your cheering voices and wear your black, white and teal.

Funnet Season 2013

Friday 10th May, 2013

Welcome to the 2013 Funnet Season

Funnet  run by Queanbeyan Netball Association will begin on 25th May, 2013 at the
Steve Mauger Netball Courts, 17 Thornton Rd, Queanbeyan. The time has yet to be determined so you will need to review the QNA website for notification – http://queanbeyan.netball.asn.au/default.asp

Please make sure you supply your child with a drink bottle and sun screen if the weather requires it. Sunhats may be worn if they have a soft brim. Appropriate foot wear eg trainers are is essential.

The session will last for 45 minutes. Please be aware parents will be required to sign their child in each week so allow for this if you intend to go away during the session time. If you do not intend to stay for the whole session please make sure you are back on time to collect your child.

The association is more than happy to have parents on hand during the session, after all they know their child best. Sometimes there are accidents and at this age these can probably be best dealt with by a familiar parent.

Representative netball girls from the 14 and 15 age groups will be assisting me with the program.

We look forward to meeting you on the 25th

There is the Annual March Pass on Saturday 18th May at 10:00am. Why don’t you come and experience the atmosphere?

If there are any concerns please contact me through qnanetball@hotmail.com

Thanks
Judy Blair

The selection committee would first like to say thank you very much to everyone who attended the recent grading sessions. It was wonderful to see such an enthusiastic group of talented young netballers. This year, as you might know, we have trialled a different approach to grading which has involved a skills grading session followed by game play. We have been very happy with the grading process and are confident we have the right mix for the various teams. Any feedback regarding the process or teams should be directed to jerrrajoeys@gmail.com.  We will however be observing teams over the first few games of the season to confirm our assessment.

Coaches Information Session

Joeys will be having an information session for coaches and managers this Thursday at 7.30pm in the Jerrabomberra school library. At this session coaches will be receiving team lists and player contact details, as well as equipment for the year. Important information will be given to coaches about their coaching roll and any questions they might have we will try to answer. We hope you all can make it.
We look forward to meeting all of the new faces for coaches this year and we are truly thankful for the previous coaches returning to volunteer their time.
Feel free to contact our coaching coordinator at any time on mardi.croke@det.nsw.edu.au or at mardi.croke@gmail.com.

Intermediate and Senior Grading

With the season starting on May 4th we don't have long to complete the grading process and form teams. Please read the information below as it contains very important information about the grading process for both intermediates and seniors.
Intermediates (13-17 y/o)
This year we are running three grading sessions:
  • Saturday 6th April 9-11am
  • Monday 8th April 6.30-7.30pm
  • Wednesday 10th April 6.30-7.30pm
The sessions will be held at the QNA netball courts. It is mandatory that you attend the first session (Saturday 6th) and at least one of the second and third sessions (Monday 8th & Wednesday 10th). If you fail to do so (without prior exemption by the selection committee) we will be unable to grade you appropriately. We will wherever possible take into consideration playing level in 2012 however you may be placed in a lower division at the commencement of the season. This placement will be assessed over the first few games of the season to ensure grading is appropriate. If it is impossible for you to attend a session it is consequently essential you contact the selection panel at jerrajoeys@gmail.com prior to the scheduled session in order to receive an exemption.
Selection panel - The selection panel will be made up of three Jerra Joeys experienced coaches and one independent selector. The club president will also be present at all grading sessions to ensure a fair and equitable process is followed as stipulated in the Jerra Joeys Grading Policy.
Seniors
At this stage we only have one session planned for seniors which will follow immediately after the completion of the intermediate session on Monday 8th April at 7.30pm. Depending on the attendance at this grading session we may need to organise a subsequent grading session, which is likely to be Wednesday 10th April. Again, it is important you let the selection panel know via our email address (jerrajoeys@gmail.com) if you are unable to attend the session.
Intermediate players, we strongly encourage you to consider playing with seniors and attend the grading session.
