Message from the Tigers Club
To have so many teams representing Jerra Joeys in their respective grand finals is a wonderful achievement.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) we will be in our own Grand Final at the same time at Manuka Oval and will not be in attendance at your end of season success.
Good Luck
Sincerely
Officials / players and supporters of the
Tigers Club
Grand Finals Week
Next Saturday (17th September) is grand finals weekend for the netball season.
The Jerra Joeys has had a great season and we have had record numbers of girls participating for the club this year, which is fantastic.
We have also had a few teams make it through to the grand final games.
It would be great to show some real club spirit next Saturday and have lots of supporters there to cheer for their friends and club mates.
Please encourage the girls to come and watch some of the final games, dress up in our club colours, make some banners and pom poms, and make lots of encouraging noise on the day to bring our teams home.
There will be a lot going on at the courts - including food stalls, and fun things to keep everyone entertained.
Game times for the Joeys teams are as follows:
8:30am - Joeys Cadets DIV 2 vs Sunrise Gold (court 1)
10am - Joeys Cadets DIV 1 vs Bungendore (court 1)
10am - Joeys Under 11's Teal vs Sunrise (court 5)
11:30am - Joeys Under 10's Black vs Waratah (court 4)
1:30pm - Joeys Seniors DIV 2 vs Waratah (court 1)
The DIV 1 seniors game is at 3pm - no Joeys teams in this grade (but maybe next year!). Stay around and watch Waratah and Sunrise take on each other in this division.
See you at the courts for one last time this season.
The Jerra Joeys committee.

Coaches Meeting
Hi Everyone,
welcome to the 2011 netball season. Thank you for volunteering your time to coach a team this year. Having participated as a coach for the last few years I know how much involvement there is and the committee values your commitment. We are hoping for yet another enjoyable season for all participants , coaches, managers and parents on the sideline. As the season opening draws nearer the weeks are very full for everyone and as a committee we are very aware we need to get information to you.
Next Wednesday 6th april we are holding our information night at Jerrabomberra Public School in Mardi Croke’s room 21 at 6.30pm. Hope to be finished by 8pm.
This is an important time for all coaches to get together and receive support from our club so I urge you all to attend. Information folders will be distributed on the night and I am sure some of you will have questions about Net Set Go as well as how the competition is run especially if you have not coached with us before. We will also be distributing equipment and finalising training sessions and availability of courts. Completion of forms as coaches for registration are also required.
Should anyone not be able to attend could you please let me know. We are still looking for coaches for a couple of teams so if you hear of anyone else who would like to help out please let me know.
For your Diaries
QNA Coaching Convener Clare Breust is holding an info night for Net Set Go coaches on 27th April .
QNA modified coaching course 8th May.
See you all on wed.
cheers
Judy Blair
Coaching Convener,
Jerra Joeys,2011
Hi Ladies
A senior grading session will be held on Tuesday 5th April from 7-8pm at the QNA netball courts. For those of you who have registered in 2011, it is very important that you attend so that we can grade individuals in keeping with QNA policy. We will also be making available samples of the new uniform for individuals to try and for size. The uniform order must be submitted Wednesday morning and registration will be closed at this time. For those of you that haven’t registered but are still thinking about it, come along to the grading session and fill in your forms on the spot.
Thanks Laura and Mardi
Pre-season training for cadets will run throughout both ACT and NSW school holidays on Wednesday 13th, 20th and 27th April from 5-6pm. We recognise that many people go away on holidays during this period however encourage any players who are not going away to make an effort to attend.
Our cadet ranks have rapidly expanded over the last few years and we have many excellent players coming through. We would like to continue to develop our cadets and begin to transition players into the senior competition. Consequently, we are extending the offer to all cadet players 14 years (in 2011) and older to play in the senior competition is 2011 (in addition to playing cadets).
There are two options for players: 1) join a team permanently and play two games of a Saturday, or 2) fill in on a rotational basis with a team. This option would see you play cadets each week and play an additional senior game every few weeks. In either case, you will need to pay an additional $40 registration to ensure you are covered for insurance purposes. Also if you are interested in joining a senior team (option 1) you will need to attend the senior grading session on Tuesday 5th April from 7-8pm.
Please give me an indication if you are interested in either filling in or playing with cadets. Additionally, if you have questions/queries regarding any of this, please either email me or contact me on 0409 166 045.
Kind regards
Laura Gow

Cadet Teams 2011
Due to unforseen alterations in our cadet numbers and selections of representative players for state age netball we have had to make adjustments to the recently published teams. Grading for these teams will occur over the first 3 weeks of the season and while we have estimated where these teams will fit in the competition no one can be too sure until all the teams begin to play, but we have endeavoured to do our bestin placing these teams for the most suitable division. As has happened in other years we have made alterations as recommended by the association so as to make the competition as suitable to the skill level as possible, so there is a possibility of movement amongst divisions at the end of week 3.
We continue to look forward to a competitive competition for all players and trust they will develop their skills further as well as having an enjoyable team game.
We are looking for a coach for the Division 4 team so if any parent would like to volunteer or know of someone else who may like the opportunity please could they email Judy Blair (cambrian-kiwi @netspeed.com.au). We also require managers for 3 of the teams. It would be an advantage to have someone with first aid qualification for these positions but it is not essential so if you would like to volunteer please contact Judy.

SENIOR TEAMS
KEEP THE DATE: Thursday 17th March at the Queanbeyan Tigers Club 6.00pm till 7.00pm.
Once again the Jerra Joeys Netball club are looking for SENIOR players (16yrs and over) of all abilities to play netball on a Saturday afternoon in Queanbeyan. We have a Division 1 team that is looking for players as well as a Div 2,3 and 4.
The Jerra Joeys is a great friendly family-orientated club that holds its members in high regard. We often have social gatherings so it is a great way to meet new people and have fun. Feel free to put a team together of friends and come see us so we can slot you into a grade.
We would also like to hear from players that have recently moved to the area. If you have ever played netball for another association, would be keen to meet some great people and get involved in the local competition played on Saturday afternoons from May till August.
Registrations for seniors will be on Thursday 17th March at the Queanbeyan Tigers Club 6.00pm till 7.00pm.
Please check the rego info on the left under 'REGISTRATONS 2011' - for all the forms and cost details. (click on the link to take you to the info)
JERRA ROTARY FAIR
Jerrabomberra Rotary are once again holding their Autumn Fair in Jerrabomberra this Saturday - and the Jerra Joeys will have a stall. We will be selling Joey Hair Scrunchies & Caps - as well as selling ice-cream 'spider' drinks (soft drink & ice-cream) and hair colour spraying!
Come along for a little fundraising fun!
If anyone can help out with a little time on the stall - please contact Josie via email at stephins@tpg.com.au
2011 CADET TEAMS
Thankyou for attending the recent grading sessions. The selection panel were very impressed with the overall standard and are confident 2011 will be an exciting year. Due to the large number of registered players, there will be 5 cadet teams as outlined below. Fitting players into teams can be a difficult task and while we are confident we’ve got the right balance for each team, the selection panel will observe the various teams over the first few weeks of grading. If it turns out we need to shuffle players slightly, then we’ll look at doing that. Also, please contact Judy Blair (cambrian-kiwi@netspeed.com.au) if anyone is interested in being a coach, team manager or team first aid officer.

CADETS (13-17 years) *edit slight change to trial times again*
Due to being unable to secure QNA courts for Monday 28th Feb - we have had to change the Cadet grading sessions to the following:
Saturday 5th March - 10:00-11:30am
Monday 7th March - 5:00-6:30pm
These sessions will allow the club to place players in the applicable grade - as Cadets are graded into 4 divisions in the QNA comp with girls from mixed ages within each team.
We require players to attend both session if possible, so that our selectors can get a good feel for player abilities, and to ensure that players are placed in the correct division.
Please contact Laura if you can not attend one or both of these sessions - on email laura.gow@ga.gov.au .
NEW JUNIOR PROGRAM FOR 2011
QNA have supplied us with some preliminary info for the upcoming season for 5-10 year olds. Letter from the Junior Chairperson follows. We will post more info as it comes to hand from QNA.
Background
In 2008, Netball NSW launched Netball Australia’s Junior Netball Program, San Remo NetSetGO!
NetSetGO! has been developed to provide children from the ages of 5 to 10 years with a learning and playing experience that enables them to develop a positive introduction to Netball, ensuring enjoyment and continued participation within the sport.
The program has been designed to complement the existing netball infrastructure by providing community groups such as Associations, Clubs and schools with quality resources and equipment to deliver an age and skill appropriate netball program. Although the association has become an accredited centre, each club is able to become an accredited centre and receive the resources from Netball NSW. More information can be found on the Netball Australia website.
The Queanbeyan Association has adopted the program for all age groups up to under 10’s, and this was voted on at the last council meeting.
Program in a nutshell
After speaking to the QNA Coaching coordinator, regarding how Netball NSW runs the NetSetGO! program, we envisage the program will run as follows:
The Fun Net program is for 5-7 years (ie those children, boys or girls who turn 7 or under in 2011). The 10 week program will be run along the same lines as last year. The children will learn skills in a game environment, ie simon says, the fruit game etc. The QNA Coaching coordinator has developed a 10 week program which will be administered by her with the help of a nominated delegate from each club and players from the QNA rep teams.
The Netta program for under 8’s- under 10’s (ie those players (boys or girls) turning 8, 9, or 10 in 2011) will run along the same lines as the under 8’s did in 2010. They will still play in their division, ie as under 8’s, or under 9’s or under 10’s. Each team will still require a coach and each club will need to nominate a delegate to assist with erecting the lower goal rings. They will still play games in a 14 round competition over the season but there will not be finals. They will play modified rules. Players will be required to be rotated every quarter and through all areas of the court. This is so that all players can develop a range of skills rather than just defence or attack.
The QNA Coaching Coordinator will be giving an information session to all coaches before the season starts to talk about the progression of skills and how the program will be administered. Dates for this will be released shortly. The QNA coaching coordinator is also available during the season to help all coaches with developing programs for their individual teams.
Queries
If you should have any queries, please contact the coaching coordinator, Clare Bruest via email on clarebreust@hotmail.com. I am available at the courts on Saturday mornings during the netball season between 8am and 1pm or via email, pr716236@tpg.com.au.
