CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN - to all those that made it into the finals. We finally had some beautiful weather last Saturday - and some really great matches were played. For those that didn't make it through - be proud of how far you came. You've all played so well this season.

JUNIORS PRESENTATION DAY - Sunday 19th September - 12:00 pm - 2:00pm - Jerrabomberra Public School - Top Netball Court. There will be presentations, food and drink for all juniors, and some fun netball games - kids versus parents and coaches - make sure you all bring along your joggers!!!

Coaches - please bring along all ball bags, balls, bibs, first aid kits & coaching folders for collection. If you can't bring them on the day - please get to Mardi Croke at the school as soon as possible at the end of the season.

Semi Finals - 11 Sep 2010

JUNIORS - IF IT'S FINE WEATHER - draws are all on the Queanbeyan website (click on the link to the left on this blog - 'QNA 2010 Draw') - click on the 'Draws/Results' link under each age group/level - then scroll to the bottom for the draw for 11 Sep 2010.

IF IT RAINS - AND QNA WILL LET US (COMMITEE) KNOW - there is a Wet Weather draw posted on the QNA website - linked on the front page. (games will be held indoors at Tuggeranong and Lynham if QNA call it wet weather) The committee will let the coaches know - and coaches will let players know - if this 'Plan B' is to take effect.

IF IT'S FINE - games as usual at QNA outdoor courts.

SENIORS - IF IT'S FINE - Div 2 Jerra Joeys will be playing at 1:30pm - on court 1 - V Waratah. Come along and cheer if you're free.
Again wet weather draw will be on the QNA website if the weather turns yuck.

WET WEATHER - all junior & senior games at QNA are cancelled today.
Will update this blog regarding next weeks matches during the week.

MESSAGE FROM QNA EXECUTIVE -
Due to extreme weather conditions all QNA Netball Semi Finals have been cancelled, (not postponed). Next Saturday we will move onto the Finals, the make up of this is:

1 v 4

2 v 3

(1 = 1st on the ladder, 4 = 4th on the ladder...etc)

Winners of these games go into the Grand Final to be played on 18 September as scheduled.

Further information will be forwarded to all club delegates early next week.

The Executive Committee understands that this situation is not ideal, however, the decision has been taken in the best interest of a fair conclusion to the 2010 competition.

CONGRATULATIONS - to Rhiannan Llewellyn - our first Jerra Joeys C Badged umpire!!! And at the ripe old age of 14! Rhiannan has worked very hard on her umpiring and this is a very well deserved award for the commitment she has shown. Fantastic work Rhiannan.
We look forward to having more juniors badged next year.

FINALS - yes - we're now into the pointy end of the competition - and what a great competition it has been for all. A HUGE well done to all our Jerra Joey teams - you have played well and with great sportsmanship throughout the season. You should be all VERY proud of yourselves - we certainly are.

Game times have changed compared to the usual draw so that the best umpires can be used throughout the final series.
10 of our junior teams have made it through to the finals - and 1 senior team - a HUGE well done to you all.

2011 - COACHES & PLAYERS NEEDED - Jerra Joeys are looking for coaches for our senior teams next year - and more players. Especially looking towards putting together a Div 1 Senior Team in 2011. Please start putting the word out NOW. Let's get the Joeys back into the Div 1 mix - they've been greatly missed this year.

CLUB TEAM PHOTOS - photos will be held this week and next. Although we understand that sometimes not all players can make it - we do ask everyone to make an effort to attend if possible (including coaches & managers) - even if you're not purchasing a photo.

NEWS - 5-08-10

2010 NETBALL SEASON - just a reminder that the QNA 2010 season ends of Saturday 28th August - then there are 3 weeks of finals. The Queanbeyan website may be slightly misleading about this, as the draw is entered until 21st August only. One more regular season match will occur on the 28th August, then there will be 3 weeks on finals - grand finals will be played on Sat 18th September.

BUNNINGS BBQ - What a great day!!! The weather gods were kind to us and the sausages kept cooking right up until 4pm. A HUGE thankyou to all our volunteers who manned the BBQ stall and to those who donated goods. We went through over 750 sausages, 40 loaves of bread, 5 litres of sauce and loads and loads of onions!!!
In the end we made over $1500 profit from the days work, which will all go back into the club to buy such items as balls, bibs, training equipment, end of year awards etc.
Thanks so much to everyone for their efforts and time.

NEWS - 22-07-10

TEAM PHOTOS - junior team photos have now been postponed until Saturday 14th August. (the second last week of normal competition) This date is now confirmed - and we'll put up photos times for teams closer to the date. We will also be handing out envelopes for pre-orders (just like school photos) over the nex couple of weeks. Photos will be taken near the QNA courts around game time to make it easier for everyone to attend.

BUNNINGS BBQ - more helpers are needed for our biggest BBQ funraiser for the season. Details - Saturday 31st July. We will be running the bbq at Bunnings Fyshwick from 9am to 4pm and we are looking for volunteers to man the bbq in 1 hour blocks (5 ppl per time slot). If you are willing to help, please contact Elaine Howell (tehowell@bigpond.com) or Louise Jones (amused@netspace.net.au). If you are unable to help on the day, we are also looking for donations of sausages, bread and onions. Bunnings recommend a total of 500 sausages, 25 loaves of bread and 10 kg of onions. Any donations of these items in any quantity would be much appreciated. Again, please contact Elaine or Louise.

HOODIES - latest orders for hoodies have all arrived in - if you still haven't received yours - please contact Nea - (neawoods@bigpond.net.au)

DRINK BOTTLES - we did not find a sponsor for new drink bottles this year - so we will not be going ahead. Hopefully we can do this next season. For those that already paid for a drink bottle - Josie will organise a refund to you over the next few weeks.

NEWS - 15-06-10

UMPIRING - Uniform requirements of umpires – all umpires are not permitted to umpire in their club uniform (even if wearing a white t-shirt over the top). Please wear a white shirt or jumper AND white or black track pants/skirt/shorts. (ie - no cadet dresses to be seen please) This request has come from the umpiring convener/QNA.

JUNIOR DISCO - will be held this Friday 18th June at the Jerrabomberra Primary School hall from 6.30–8.30pm. Please see flyer below for details. We are asking players to please make a gold coin donation to their coaches this week as a contribution towards nibblies. (click on below image for a larger view)

NEWS - 17-05-10

MARCH PAST - what a great day - the weather was beautiful - the cheering was loud - all our junior Joeys marched so well - you all looked FANTASTIC!!! It's on these days that we see how large our club has really grown. Thanks for all making such a great effort - you all looked as proud of your club as I am!!!
Photos and video will be uploaded over the next week (see the 'Flikr' box on the left) - if anyone out there has some more great photos of the day - or of their teams at anytime - please send them to me to add to the collection.

LOLLY STALL & HAIR PLAITING - thanks to all the lolly donations, and also to our band of amazing 'Lolly-Bag-Makers' on Wednesday night (over 400 bags were made up in under 1 hour!) - your efforts have been greatly appreciated by all. Also to our hair plaiters on the day, and those that manned the stall and sold lollies on the day - A HUGE THANKS - to you all. We managed to raise just under $900 for the day - great effort all round I say.

IMPORTANT REMINDER - NO JEWELLERY - please please please please make sure girls/ladies take off ALL jewellery for training, as well as for Saturday games. There has been an unfortunate accident at training last week involving a watch and a tooth - EEK!! Coaches, parents and players - please all try to remember this very important rule - NO JEWELLERY. I really can't stress this enough.

NET SET GO - starts THIS WEEK - Saturday 22nd May - 10:00am to 11:00am - at the QNA top courts (5 & 6). Sue Sokic has kindly offered to be the Jerra Joeys contact person for our littlest Joeys - please contact Sue if you have any queries or concerns.
This is a great start to netball - where players learn some basic skills and usually play short games at the end of each session. Don't forget your drink bottles.

NEWS - 09-05-10

QNA MARCH PAST & GALA DAY- will be held this coming Saturday 15th May.
The March Past is for all junior players and there will be stalls, sausage sizzle and lots more throughout the day.
Players are to assemble at the courts no later than 9:30am - the March will commence at 9:45am.
(we'll keep fingers crossed for a nice day)
Thank you to all those that donated lollies during the week - the committee and helpers will make up lolly bags this Wednesday, and sell them as a fundraiser on Saturday. There will also be hair braiding with ribbons by Elaine and Louise during the day. Make sure you check it all out.
If you still have lollies to donate - you can drop them in on either Monday or Tuesday evening at 38 Stringybark Dve after 5:30pm. The more we have - the more bags we can make up.
QNA Rep players are expected to wear their QNA dresses for the March Past - but still march with the Jerra Joeys Club.
All other players, please wear your full Jerra Joeys uniform - black pleated skirt, Jerra Joeys shirt, (Jerra Joeys dress for cadets) socks, scrunchies and ribbons.

NEWS - 03-05-10

Luckily the weather was beautiful for our first day of the season. I hope that everyone had a great day.

For me personally - I have 3 daughters playing juniors this year, plus I am in a senior team myself. No wins amoung us - but great play all around - and a good time was had by all.
I do hope it was a good start for everyone else also.

EARRINGS & JEWELLERY - I would like to remind all that QNA has a policy of no jewellery, and this includes earrings. Taping of earings will not be allowed. This rule is in place to protect all players.
If you are thinking of getting your ears pierced - please look at doing this in the 'off season' - from October through to March. Sadly QNA won't budge on this issue.
Unfortunately, there may have been some mixed messages from umpires on the weekend as it was the first day back - and many young/new umpires were rostered on for our first day back. (the inconsistancy of messages is definately annoying - and we will advise the junior umpiring convenor of events that took place on Saturday - hoping that it won't happen in the future)

FOR SALE - we are going to set up a page on here where Jerra Joeys can advertise any uniforms for sale that are no longer needed. Please email me with details and I'll add them to the page. (details = garment description, sizing, cost and contact details of seller) If you do wish to place an ad - please also remember to let me know when I can take the ad down once the item is sold.

MARCH PAST - QNA March Past is being held on Saturday 15th May. All Joeys are asked to attend - and wear full uniform with matching scrunchies/or ribbons. This is a Queanbeyan tradition - and it's great to see all the girls marching proudly for their club. Jerra Joeys won this event last year - can we make it two in a row????
We will also be fund raising on this day - selling Lolly Bags and there will be Hair Braiding (similar to the Jerra Fair). Could all players please donate one packet of lollies to their coach for the lolly bags - the committee will bag them up next week. We require all lollies by THIS Saturday at the latest. Funds raised will go towards buying new equipment (such a new balls etc) for all our teams.
Note for those that are in QNA Rep teams - you are required to wear your QNA Rep Dress at March Past - but still march with your club - The Jerra Joeys.

We are working out how many teams are in each age group and division - and will be putting out timetables and draws as soon as possible. When available - draws will be under the `Competitions` tab on the left of the Queanbeyan Netball Assoc Website.

News - 23-04-10

NET SET GO - starts up 22 May - it's still not too late to sign up - this is a skills program for 5/6/7 year olds. It runs each Saturday morning - times will be advised closer to the start date. Cost: $70

JUNIORS - you should have been contacted by your coach by now - contact Josie if you have not. Coaches are your first point of contact for any queries - and if you have any further concerns - please contact our president - or any of our committee. Thanks for everyones patience and understanding as we start up training sessions - and get the season underway.
Junior draws should be released over the weekend - we'll advise of this here on this blog.

CADETS - Cadet training will commence on Thursday 29th April from 7pm to 8pm. Unfortunately Thursday was the only day that suited all coaches and it was decided that as a number of girls will already be at the courts with Queanbeyan Rep training, it would make sense to run our training afterwards. We acknowledge this is quite a late finish however once the Rep season has finished, we will be shifting training to an earlier timeslot on Thursdays. I hope this hasn’t inconvenienced too many people. For those of you who do not finish your Rep training until 7.30 pm, please come over once you’re free.
Coaches have been finalised for the three teams:
Div 2 Laura Gow (Team Manager/Carer – Josie Stephinson)
Div 3 Stephanie Mackney (Team Manager/Carer – TBC)
Div 4 Trish Reynolds (Team Manager/Carer – TBC)
As you can see we still require a team manger for both the Div 3 and Div 4 teams. Please ask your parents whether they might be interested. It would largely involve supporting the coach and being prepared to assist players with injuries on a Saturday.
Remember that the season starts on Saturday 1st May. Draws should be released over the weekend - keep watching this blog for updates on games times when we hear more.

SENIORS - training will continue to run for all interested senior players - Thursday nights - 7:00-8:30pm - Queanbeyan Netball Courts. Each senior team must nominate a main contact person to Josie ASAP - and each senior team must nominate an umpire for each week. Umpires are required to umpire only at a level they feel comfortable at. (ie - you will not be asked to umpire Div 1 - unless you feel confident to do so) Contact either Mardi for any queries on the umpiring.

UNIFORMS - have all arrived. Your coaches will distribute ordered shirts and socks over the next week. (the new longer socks look GREAT!) Cadet dresses will be handed out at training next week.
A HUGE THANKYOU to Nea Woods as our uniform co-ordinator - who has packaged up and labelled all orders so well - it makes a coaches job much easier!!
We have not yet found a sponsor to help with the costs of ordering new drink bottles - we'll keep you posted on this. We also haven't ordered jumpers/hoodies yet - as we wanted to wait a little after the madness and expense of registrations etc. We'll let you all know when we intend to place this order for those that wish to puchase this great fashion item!!
Senior shirts - we have decided to sell off what second hand shirts we have - $15 each - and new shirts can be ordered for $30 (there will be a few weeks delay in ordering). We no longer have room to store a supply - and seniors have mentioned they'd prefer to have their own shirt (not a recylced one). Please contact Josie for all queries on senior shirts.

SPONSORS - WE NEED YOUR HELP! We require a sponsor for our drink bottles - and we also require sponsorship to help us upgrade our equipment for all our teams. Our club is growing bigger every year - and our stock of balls is really in bad shape. (not to mention we don't have as many balls per team, as we keep getting more teams every year!) If anyone out there in Jerra Joeys land can help out - or can at least ask around for us - that would be great.

UMPIRES - calling all those from the U12's and up interested in learning to umpire - Cherie (Queanbeyan Junior Umpire Co-ordinator) is looking for more interested girls to start out in umpiring this year. Cherie is a wonderful mentor - and already we have a great many junior Jerra Joeys taking to the sidline to umpire each Saturday morning.
p.s. umpires get paid for every game they umpire!!
For any of our more mature members - Queanbeyan are only too happy to help out any new umpires and rule books are available from the canteen (once the season starts) for a small cost.

2010 Cadet Teams

All cadet players should receive an email today advising of which team they have been selected to. If you have not received an email from Laura today.

We are still short a few players so if you know anyone who would be interested in playing (13-16yrs), please let Laura know as soon as possible and bring them along to training. We are also short a coach for the Div 4 team and team mangers for the Div 3 and 4 teams, so please ask your parents whether they might be interested in helping out.

News - 30-03-10

HUGE THANKYOU - to all those fantastic Joey parents and players that helped out at our stall at the Jerra Rotary Fair over the weekend. We managed to raise almost $300 - fantastic effort by everyone. A special mention to Elaine Howell & Louise Jones for your organisation of this event. Your novel ideas, efforts and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.

TEAMS - Teams are now being organised for all year groups & divisions and coaches are being allocated to those teams.
Thanks for all those that have stepped forward to coach this year - our club just keeps getting bigger and bigger - and without your help our girls wouldn't be able to play.

UNIFORMS - Over the next few weeks - make sure you have your uniform ready for the start of the season.
Juniors - black pleated skirt, Jerra shirt, Jerra socks/or white socks - and don't forget the black scungies for under your skirt.
Cadets/intermediates - dresses will be handed out closer to the season.
Seniors - black pleated skirt, Jerra socks/or white socks - senior shirts will be handed out closer to the season. Again - black scungies please.
When the weather does finally cool down - players are allowed to wear black leggings under skirts - and/or a black longed sleeved top under your Joey shirt.
All ordered uniform items (except the hoodies/jumpers) should be in before 1st May - we'll contact those that have ordered items when they come in.
Hoodies - we have held off on this order to try to ellivate the costs involved with the start of the season. We will advertise on here when we plan to put in our order for the season - keep watching this space!!

JUNIORS - you will be hearing from your coach over the next couple of weeks.
Competition starts on Saturday 1st May - at the Karabar netball courts.
Training times will be up to each individual coach - they'll let you know more details when they contact you.

SENIORS - no training this Thursday. Training will resume on Thursday 29th April - 7:00pm.
You will be contacted over the next couple of weeks with your team details.

CADETS (13-16 Yr Olds)

Another grading is being held this Thursday 7pm to 8pm at the QNA courts, Karabar.
Please try to all come along - as we need to see everyone together to form the teams.

SENIORS

We will be having another run around this Thursday night at 7pm at the QNA netball courts. We need to have ALL players registered by this weekend, so all forms and payment needs to be given to Mardi Thursday night. We really need to have all players there this Thursday to make final decisions about teams. Hope to see you all there.

Hi there,

We will be having another run around at the netball courts this Thursday night (11th). This time, starting at 7pm. Can you let friends know that they are quite welcome to come along and that rego for seniors won’t close for another week or so? Please pass on this news to anyone you think might be interested in playing this year.

We are currently working out teams for all junior age groups - and we will be having a grading session for the cadets shortly.

Welcome to the 2011 netball season.

The Jerra Joeys netball club is part of the Queanbeyan Netball Association and has developed a great reputation as a strong and competitive club.

We expect over 150 nominations overall again in our Junior and Senior teams this year. Games will start at Queanbeyan on 30th April 2011.

Closing date for registrations and uniform orders to the Jerra Joeys Netball Club is 25th February 2011. This is so we can make preparations for the coming season.

REGISTRATION DAYS

Player Registrations days will be held on the following days -

Wednesday 16th February 2011
Jerrabomberra Public School (outside library)
3:00pm - 4:00pm

Saturday 19th February 2011
Outside Jerrabomberra Shops (Woolworths)
9:00am - 1:00pm

To register, please complete, sign and return all forms (click and print out each form below) - with payment for each participant - no later than Friday 25th February 2011.

Forms and payment can be dropped off at one of the registration sessions mentioned above with complete money or receipt of successful bank transfer

1 x Netball NSW Registration Form 2011 - (2 pages) - must be signed on 2nd page.
1 x Jerra Joeys Uniform Order Form 2011 - (1 page) - if required.

UNIFORMS

Fun Net / Netta / Junior (ages 5-12 years) - uniforms will remain the same as last year - Jerra Joeys black & teal polo shirt (purchased from us) plus black pleated netball skirt (purchased from Target, sports stores etc).

Cadets (ages 13-17 years) and Seniors (18+ years) - players will have a NEW playing uniform this year. The new outfit is a black and teal matching sleeveless top and skirt - total cost for the set - $90.00.

All players are required to purchase uniforms at their own expense.
The uniform items mentioned above are required by all players from Netta through to Seniors (ages 8 to 18+ years) to play with the Jerra Joeys at Queanbeyan.
For our littlest Fun Net players (ages 5-7 years) - the uniform is optional.
All other uniform items are optional.

Please note that only ONE uniform order will be placed this year.
The closing date for uniform orders will be 25 February 2011 - same as the registration deadline.

Players will be able to order uniforms on registration day and pay a 50% deposit - with final payment due by Wednesday 6 April 2011. We expect that it will take 6-8 weeks for orders to be delivered.

To order any new uniform items, please complete the uniform order form (see above under FORMS heading) and return with your registration form.
